Interesting that you feel like Saskatoon is like a second home in Canada for you. It’s also often been called a mini Edmonton. It’s definitely more relatable than Regina.

Yeah I can see that! Now having looked at just the shape and geography of Edmonton a little more recently, that makes so much sense! A mini Edmonton with no LRT thought :( I definitely felt the car dependency in Saskatoon, at least that was my very superficial feeling about the city, based off limited time there. Feels like it kind of works with small population but if you just kept expanding Saskatoon for the population you would have just way too much sprawl.

Oh yeah I mean Edmonton too is very car centric. The Prairie reality. Although I do recall there being some planning for BRT in Saskatoon a few years back. No idea where that went but for a city of its size in Canada... not bad. Saskatoon has a scaled down river valley, a similar festival culture in the summer (which Winnipeg has too), and a similar new Prairie artsy vibe/Northern frontier vibe. Vegetation's very similar, closest large-ish Prairie city at a similar latitude to Edmonton, etc. Both cities have the flagship university (unlike Regina and Calgary). Nutana/Broadway has a similar youth vibe to Old Strathcona/Whyte in Edmonton... but like a scaled down version. Idk. Bunch of weird things like that. There's aspects of Calgary I see in Saskatoon too, but it reads more mini Edmonton than anything else.
