Just a recap about the nature of these monthly posts:
I started creating these in 2023 because I felt that a month would go by and I would say “Where has the month gone?!” These posts, which have become a photo journal for myself feature mostly photos, posted in chronological order. At the beginning of the post, there is a list of events/feelings, as a way to include things that weren’t photographed.
Peg City AGM, Cantonese class, Tommy the Turtle, Tacos and Trivia, Zaytoon, Crumb Queen, All out for Palestine, Bike cleaning, Hot Pot, apartment balconies, ginger beer, West Wolseley photo walks, good chats, Scientific Marvel, Light the Fire, Art in Bloom, Patch Buffet, Ikea veggie dogs, Last of Us, Beers & Hymns, tulips, Pacific Industrial photo walks, friends around fires.
As part of Platform Gallery member show, their call was for any old work so I dug through my Macau photos and came across this photo that I hadn’t included in my Expiring City show.
“You destroy what you come for” 2019. The title comes from some graffiti I saw in a since deactivated instagram account I was following years ago. The graffiti was somewhere in Greece and it read (in English) “Tourists, you destroy what you came for.” That sobering assertion always stuck in my mind especially thinking of Macau as a tourist city but also thinking about the wider implications of automobile transport and the built environment wrought by it.
Right at the start of a month, took a trip with my partner down to Boissevain, a town in the southwest corner of Manitoba.
And then just like that we were back in the city.
Bike ride with my sister on the last day of her practicum for her social work degree!
Zaytoon
Chinese Hot Pot. SO GOOD
Big bike ride with friends!
Art in Bloom at the Winnipeg Art Gallery. Florists create arrangements that are inspired by particular pieces of art in the gallery.
Louis at the Patch Buffet!
Hugs.
My partner’s incredible style.
All out for Palestine
First fire of the season!

Lovely pictures and I like how you’ve managed to make the cold look so warm - Finding those colours.
I recently did a trip from west to east coast of Canada and felt like it was difficult to convey how cold it was. Maybe it’s better to focus on the colours and making things seem less harsh

Good stuff - thanks for sharing your unique eye on the world. One of my April highlights was definitely seeing you and your sibs, however briefly!
