Hey y’all it’s me Michael, not Mike. I want a place for my photos to live that isn’t instagram. I also want the photos to be allowed to be part of a larger written reflection as well.
I have always thought of my photos as being not just single images but as part of a bigger series, a larger story. Starting in 2017, I started a photoblog on the aptly titled site, photoblog.com. I wrote some of my bigger essay stories there. I reflected back on past trips that I had taken to Quebec, Europe, and Macau and looked at my present. It sporadically posted for about a year and then dropped the endeavour. I tried to go back onto the website last year and realized that the website was down and while I had saved some of the posts I had written there were others that weren’t and now are gone. It’s strange because those that are brought up in the digital age, seem to instinctually know the phrase “once its on the internet, its up there forever,” and don’t really think about saving or backing up in the era of the cloud, however I guess you can lose your works to the digital ether.
So I want to start again. Here on a more established site. My vision is to post once a month. To include photos of that month and some of the thoughts I had as well.
Did we just have the same thought regarding posting our photos? Anyway glad I caught this and look forward to seeing more from you!
