“That’s the good luck of a guy’s weekend.” I was in Vimy Ridge park one day hanging out with my friends and all of the sudden we noticed this little boy running past us uttering the phrase. We looked at where he was running to and noticed a gathering of other children, balloons and a bouncy castle, in another section of the park. The words were uttered with an unbounded excitement that I can distinctly remember having as a child. I hope to lean into more of that unbounded excitement, particularly with summer here in full force.
July came and went so quickly but looking back it was full of:
Cabin, Copa, Euro, Techno, disassembling a bike, Boy Golden Concert, The Dropout, cousin hang outs, distant friend visits, The Neighbourhoods, Coffee outside, Winnipeg Fringe Fest, early morning walks to Tall Grass Bakery, CBC interview, Oma turning 101, Rob Jenner Memorial, and so much more.
I hope you all are having the good luck of a guy’s weekend.
Enjoy the photos, Michael, not Mike
Portrait taken by my niece. Framing is good! She’s just got to get the exposure down and then she’s set.
At my partner’s family cottage on Lee River.
The Zenith paper building 579 McDermot Ave. In the process of getting renovated, the middle section of the building sunk in.
Went with my brother to a experimental techno night at the Handsome Daughter
My partner and I biked all along the Seine River all the way until the perimeter. Some sections we were going through forest and it felt like we left the city entirely.
Finally did some of the photo projects I had in mind. Here is a shot I didn’t end using in the neighbourhood post. I’ve included the post below if you want to check it out.
Went to go see a Boy Golden concert in Into the Music. It was great to hear him play some music off his new album.
Biking around downtown in the summer.
Winnipeg Fringe Festival, a 12 day event of alternative theatre. Taking place in downtown Winnipeg, its an especially nice time to be walking around and see the streets bustling with people.
My Partner at Vimy Ridge park. With the heat, we have been trying to hang out earlier in the mornings.
Biking around China Town.
They started tearing down the Zenith printing building and I happened to be biking by the other day.
